The Tufted Titmouse is a frequent visitor at feeders and a very
social bird. In the winter they join small flocks of chickadees, nuthatches,
kinglets, creepers and woodpeckers. The Titmouse is not as tame as a
chickadee and often clings to the bark of trees to pick spiders and insects
from beneath a leaf or twig. Their habitat includes swampy or moist
woodlands, and shade trees in towns and city parks.
The Tufted Titmouse has a range from eastern Nebraska, southern Michigan,
and Maine south to Texas, the Gulf Coast and central Florida.
